Change start menu text on XP

Here is a simple way to do this

Step 1 – Modify Explorer.exe
File
In order to make the changes,
the file explorer.exe located at C:
\Windows needs to be edited.
Since explorer.exe is a binary file
it requires a special editor. For
This purpose I have
used Resource Hacker. Resource
HackerTM is a freeware utility to
view, modify, rename, add,
delete and extract resources in
32bit Windows executables and
resource files (*.res). It
incorporates an internal resource
script compiler and decompiler
and works on Win95, Win98,
WinME, WinNT, Win2000 and
WinXP operating systems.
Navigate here , type resource hacker in search box and download it.
The first step is to make a
backup copy of the file
explorer.exe located at C:
\Windows\explorer. Place it in a
folder somewhere on your hard
drive where it will be safe. Start
Resource Hacker and open
explorer.exe located at C:
\Windows\explorer.exe

The category we are going to be
using is String Table. Expand it
by clicking the plus sign then
navigate down to and expand
string 37 followed by
highlighting 1033. If you are
using the Classic Layout rather
than the XP Layout, use number
38. The right hand pane will
display the stringtable. We’re going to modify
item 578, currently showing the
word “start” just as it displays
on the current Start button.
There is no magic here. Just
double click on the word “start”
so that it’s highlighted, making
sure the quotation marks are not
part of the highlight. They need
to remain in place, surrounding
the new text that you’ll type. Go
ahead and type your new entry.


You’ll
notice that after the new text
string has been entered the
Compile Script button that was
grayed out in is now
active. I won’t get into
what’s involved in compiling a
script, but suffice it to say it’s
going to make this exercise
worthwhile. Click Compile Script
and then save the altered file
using the Save As command on
the File Menu. Do not use the
Save command – Make sure to
use the Save As command and
choose a name for the file. Save the newly named
file to C:\Windows.

Step 2 – Modify the Registry
.
Now that the modified
explorer.exe has been created
it’s necessary to modify the
registry so the file will be
recognized when the user logs
on to the system. If you don’t
know how to access the registry
. I’m not sure this article is for
you, but just in case it’s a
temporary memory lapse, go to
Start (soon to be something else)
Run and type regedit in the
Open: field. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\
CurrentVersion\Winlogon

.
In the right pane, double
click the Shell entry to open the
Edit String dialog box. In Value data: line,
enter the name that was used to
save the modified explorer.exe
file. Click OK.
Close Registry Editor and either
log off the system and log back in, or reboot the entire system if
that’s your preference. If all went
as planned you should see your
new Start button with the
revised text...

Change Your Mobile's Font

Hy guyz. I have Nokia N82 which is the best phone in my experience. It wasnt gr8 at its debut, but i have updated it with such Applications that it has completely minimized my Pc usage. I have a big collection of softwares that makes my cell bolder. I have posted 2 amongst recently. Lets talk about another today.
The software of the day is Font Router!
INTRODUCTION:
This fancy tool helps u to style the font of ur cell phone!. This is a gr8 software which is completely riskless and it wont affect any function of ur cell phone(It works gr8 in my N82. Dnt know about others). Read the guide below for how to's
GET IT:
1. First download the Fontrouter frm here.
2. Sign it. (dnt know signing? Chk my post about it)
3. Install it in ur phone. It is important that u must install it in ur Phone memory. Installation will form a "Font" named folder in ur phone memory root consisting of "Fontrouter.ini"(which will do the job of font changing).
4. All u have to do is to add a font file in this font folder. IMPORTANT! The font should be of ".ttf"(true type font) format. U may find it at "C:/Windows/Font" in ur Pc or anywhr in world wide web(see www.dafont.com).
5. After adding ".ttf" font file to Font folder in ur phone memory, restart ur phone and enjoy the new font.
Dont like the new font? Change it easily!
CHANGING FONT:
To change ur font u need this software "Dedit9".
It is file browser whose extended functionality lets u edit hidden and system files.
1. Get it. Install it. Run it and follow!.
2. Go to C:/data/font/ and open "Fontrouter.ini".
3. Find and Change the line "Enable=1" to "Enable=0". Save the file and restart the phone.
4. Ur old font will be visible.
Now u can remove the font that u added and exchange it with another font.
5. After adding new font, open Dedit and go open "fontrouter.ini"
6. Change the line "Enable=0" to "Enable=1". Save it and restart the phone.
Oh my goodness! Ur phone is shining with new font!
Disturbed with font size? Is it too small? Dnt worry! I have solution. Just keep ur sight engaged till the end of the post.
TO ENLARGE FONT:
Follow these easy steps:
1. Run Dedit and go to C:/data/font/ and open fontrouter.ini.
2. Seek through for these lines;

; Global zoom ratio (by percentage) and range of font size to apply zooming to.
ZoomRatio=100
ZoomMinSize=0
ZoomMaxSize=48

3. Change the line Zoom ratio=100 to Zoom ratio=130
4. Change the line Zoom MaxSize=48 to Zoom MaxSize=50

4. Scroll down little furthur to find these lines;

; Z Zoom ratio by percentage (Default: 100)

5. Change
(Default: 100) to (Default: 130)

6. Save and restart ur phone.
7. Oh boy! Thats worth watching text now.


Hey! Listen! I have tested it in my N82 and works fyn. I have no info whether it will work in other phones or not!

How to Sign Applications

Dnt know signing Apps? Here i am to help u out!
There are several ways to sign applications like online signing at symbiansigned.com, trying to get certificate and key by solving chinese puzzles. But i m gona free u of this tension. I am gona show u two easy ways to sign apps. So follow me!

1. Get ur sign tools frm www.s60certkey.com:
It is simple way to sign applications. All u have to do iz to go to www.s60certkey.com and sign up. After registring ur account, post ur IMEI at lower tab and wait for 24/48 hours. After 2 days tym, ur certificate and key will be waiting for ur download.
Got cert and key, now what? Now u need a signer to sign ur apps with the cert and key u got. Here it is!. Sign ur apps and enjoy.
Thiz is an easy, free and simple way to get ur applications signed(Although i havent tried it myself yet:).

2. COMPLICATED BUT FASTER:
Its my way to sign apps as i lyk complicativity. Haha! Its not complicated but clean way to sign apps. Follow the guide below:

Step 1: Preparation
1. First of all, u need a gud browser lyk X-plore, yucca browser etc. X-plore is the best choice. Get it here.
2. Download this file which contains 3 subfiles, namely gensign.cer, gensign.key and 00000001.
3. Have Security manager from here.
4. Also download this Mobile signer which will help u sign ur apps at ur mobile phone.
Preparation ends here.

Step 2: Signing apps
1. Install Secman, run it, go to options and turn platform capabilities on!
2. Install and open X-plorer that u just downloaded.
2. Extract Cert.rar (using Xplorer or Pc etc.) that u got frm upper link containing three files i mantioned above.
3. Transfer 00000001 to c:/Resource/swicertstore/dat/ using xplorer. Replace the file if it already exists(change its attribute to none if it is not replacing). If the folders are not there, create thm and put the file in it.
4. Change the attribute of the file 00000001, dat, switcertstore to read only and exit.
5. Install and Run Mobile signer. Choose the .sis file that u wona sign. Choose the "gensign.key" in key tab and "gensign.cer" in cer tab. Go to option and choose sign.
6. .sisx extention typ of the .sis typ file will be created in the same folder which iz the signed version of the app.
Install and Enjoy it!.
